What happened to the sub-menu at the top of the page?

Web

I got rid of it. That's the short answer. The long answer was that I came to the conclusion that it wasn't serving a great deal of purpose, given that the exact same links can be found on the right-hand column on each page. The sub-menu was a convenient feature, but ultimately I never succeeded in making it look eye-pleasing. It always seemed to stick out like a sore thumb, making the site appear cluttered. The design seems slightly cleaner now, although I'm ultimately slightly sorry to lose the functionality.

By the way, I've also redesigned the "blockquote" element, and will probably continue to make slight tweaks here and there in the coming days. That tends to be how I work when it comes to web design - I need to actually use the site heavily for a few weeks to iron out all the kinks. A lot of time, minor problems have an irritating habit of not revealing themselves until the site goes live. So, basically, if things ever look a little wonky, it probably means that I've altered the style sheet or some of the graphical elements, and one or the other is still cached on your system (although, to be fair, as things currently stand I've actually replaced most of the graphical elements, such as the main menu and the "curly quotes" to the left of each blockquote, with text-based equivalents). In that case, just hit Ctrl + Shift + R to force your browser to reload all the elements.

I go to your website on occasion and I must mention that I like your template!

To combat spam, commenting is automatically disabled on entries older than 30 days.

Did a comment you tried to post accidentally get eaten by the spam filter? It happens from time to time. I get upwards of 200 spam comments every day and unfortunately don't have the time to weed through all of them in case something genuine ended up there by mistake. If one of your posts gets incorrectly flagged as spam, email me at whiggles[at]ntlworld[dot]com and I'll do my best to retrieve it.
