Let me know what you think of Coraline. It's not as much of a timeless classic as The Nightmare Before Christmas nor does it have its "soul", but it's better than James and the Giant Peach. From the trailers I didn't have high hopes. But it turned out better than I had anticipated, especially towards the final act. The only thing I didn't like about Coraline was Coraline, who in the book was a lonely, but relatively polite British girl, but in the movie is an obnoxious American brat.

Let me know if the 3D's the shitty blue and green glasses technology My Bloody Valentine had.

I'm afraid it's the same green and purple effect as My Bloody Valentine. As far as I know, this is likely to be the case for watching 3D movies in the home for the foreseeable future, given that achieving the full colour effect would require a dedicated display.

I took a look at the first five minutes, and while it's hard to gauge the film based on a brief glance, it does look to have the delightful crookedness of The Nightmare Before Christmas, which was so woefully absent in the blandly slick Corpse Bride. (I know Henry Selick had nothing to do with Corpse Bride, but I mention it because it's the only recent stop motion animated feature that's in any way comparable, given that the Wallace & Gromit films go for something completely different.)

The first time i watched Corpse Bride i felt it was just average. On a repeat viewing i really liked it so much more and things i missed the first time around i noticed on the repeat viewing.

I sometimes feel that way about films and it's the repeat viewings where i start to appreciate a film more.

As long as they keep providing 2D editions of these movies then i can see no issues with having the inferior to the cinema 3D version bundled with the Blu Ray 2D edition. It's not perfect but i do get enjoyment out of it even though the colours are usually completely screwed up.

I wish Bolt had been released in 2D and 3D editions and i wish Monster's Vs Aliens coming later this year would be released in 3D as well but it's looking unlikely.

At the moment with short animation or short films like Journey or Bloody Valentine they can easily put both versions on a dual layer BD-50 but if the film is longer than 110 minutes then i hope they use two discs - One for 2D and one for 3D.

I think it's important they are releasing some of these in 3D as it will help promote a new 3D format when it arrives and it keeps 3D alive in the home as at the moment it's the only way to watch these films.

I think 3D gaming could be a huge thing and i understand Nvidia have released the kit to do it.

I could only stand 10mins of Coraline in 3D on the BD. A blurred headache of a mess. The 2D version was gorgeous, mind and not a bad lttle film at all,(if nothing wildly original).

I still haven't made it through CORPSE BRIDE. I bought the HD-DVD dirt cheap from Inetvideo and only made it though about 15-minutes before the film grated on my nerves so much I had to turn it off. One of these days I'll give it another shot and see if I can finish it.

The current red/blue (or in some cases, red/green) stuff on Blu-ray certainly isn't ideal, but the 3-D effects still work far better than I've seen 3-D work at home in the past. The fact that they always offer the 2-D versions of these films as a viewing option is good, as well. I only wish FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3 had the opening credits in 3-D, though, like it was when it was shown in theaters.
