Just arrived...

Blu-ray

The Ninth Gate (BD, Lions Gate, Region ABC, USA)

Blu-ray

Labyrinth (BD, Sony Pictures, Region ABC, UK) [review copy]

Jennifer Connelly's second starring role, after her turn in Dario Argento's Phenomena. Actually, Phenomena and Labyrinth would make for a fascinating double bill...

Love THE NINTH GATE, highly underrated. I hope that the ol' "looks better in motion" applies... usually does, as some caps on various sites weren't that impressive. Also interesting how people react to the ending, and Seigner's character.

Yeah, I really like the film. I've just taken a look at the disc, and unfortunately it looks to be from the American Psycho school of Lions Gate transfers. Labyrinth, on the other hand, looks terrific.

A shame, Darius Khondji (SE7EN, MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS) shot that film. I'll have to revisit LABYRINTH, been literally decades.

On an unrelated note, speaking of transfers, another partially "RED" film... Peter Jackson's new HEAVENLY CREATURES-esque film:

Great source material, supposedly great script...

I think The Ninth Gate is a fabulous film. I hope the transfer is not as bad as your first impressions but please report back more fully soon.

A delicious little movie, especially compared with the hilarious antics of Secret Window.
