The Last House on the Left (2009) (BD, Universal, Region ABC, USA)
I tend to treat remakes with a great deal of suspicion and, truth be told, this one is no exception. It piqued my curiosity, however, for two reasons: (1) it's been getting some pretty good write-ups, and (2) Wes Craven's original The Last House on the Left is one of a limited number of films on the horror remake conveyor belt that I think could actually be improved quite considerably.

Did a comment you tried to post accidentally get eaten by the spam filter? It happens from time to time. I get upwards of 200 spam comments every day and unfortunately don't have the time to weed through all of them in case something genuine ended up there by mistake. Ugh, this one has miffed me ever since I first heard of it. The plethora of remakes was bad, but a remake of a remake is so, so sad. And to think of all the people who saw this (or the horrid Craven 'original') who have never even heard of the true original: Ingmar Bergman's beautiful The Virgin Spring. It's too bad.
