L'amour braque

The third DVD release from Mondo Vision is Andrzej Zulawski's L'amour braque ("Limpet Love", 1985), a film blessed with perhaps the greatest opening scene any film has ever had, ever, in the history of cinema. Okay, maybe that's open to debate, but in any event, those who enjoyed Mondo Vision's previous releases of Zulawski films, La femme publique and L'important c'est d'aimer, will definitely want to pick up one of these. As with those films, it's available in both standard and limited premium editions. The regular edition (pictured above) includes the following:

  • Digitally Restored High Definition Transfer Mastered For Progressive Scan (Approved by Director Andrzej Zulawski)
  • Feature Length Audio Commentary With Director Andrzej Zulawski And Writer Daniel Bird
  • Exclusive New Video Interview With Sophie Marceau: "Becoming Marie" [24:00]
  • Video Interview With Director Of Photography J.F. Robin [24:00]
  • Rare Archival Interviews & Behind The Scenes Footage From 1985 [16:00]
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • Image Gallery
  • 28-page Booklet Featuring a Newly-Written Essay by Daniel Bird

The Limited Premium Edition includes all of the above, plus:

  • Soundtrack CD (Digitally Remastered)
  • Exclusive 64pg Commemorative Booklet including a newly written essay by Daniel Bird + Rare and Insightful Essays & Interviews (retranslated and published for the first time ever in English)
  • [5x7] Color Reproduction of the Original French Poster
  • Certificate of Authenticity With Unique Serial # [Only 2000 Individually Numbered Sets Produced]

Not to sound like a complete shill, but... you can pre-order either the standard edition or the Limited Premium Edition from Amazon.com.

I've already picked up the premium dvd editions of "La Femme Publique" and "L'Important C'est D'Aimer" and have been impressed with the transfer quality, extras, and packaging. I can't wait to pick up "L'Amour Braque".

Day 1 for me (well pre-order actually).
Why exactly is this coming out on a Thu, though?
I only wish all these Mondo releases were BDs...

Yeah, Mondo BDs would be incredible. I often think, "What if they eventually do start doing BDs, and I gotta rebuy all of these?" ha ha. But at least they're incredible-looking DVDs.

You are too kind :)

It's actually hard enough to find workable PAL masters for this stuff, let alone HD. So I don't think there's a lot of chance of you having to rebuy anything to get the best available version.

I think it goes without saying that with me around, Mondo Vision are being harassed constantly about doing BD stuff whenever possible.
