Upcoming US and UK Blu-ray titles for the next week. Titles I intend to pick up at some point are in bold.

Looks like a total barrage of Warner titles this week...

  • Fifty Dead Men Walking (Metrodome, UK)
  • Ghost in the Shell: Innocence (Manga, UK)
  • Gladiator (Universal, UK)
  • Hannah Montana: The Movie (Buena Vista, UK)
  • Hannibal (Universal, UK)
  • Infestation (Icon, UK)
  • Punch Drunk Love (Sony Pictures, UK)
  • Red Dragon (Universal, UK)
  • Silverado (Sony Pictures, UK)

  • Deep Calm (Warner, USA)
  • Exit Speed (Phase 4, USA)
  • Fist of Fury (Phantasm, USA)
  • Freddy vs. Jason (New Line/Warner, USA)
  • Friday (New Line/Warner, USA)
  • Fringe: The Complete First Season (Warner, USA)
  • Menace II Society (New Line/Warner, USA)
  • The New World: The Extended Cut (New Line/Warner, USA)
  • Over the Top (Warner, USA)
  • The Postman (Warner, USA)
  • The Quick and the Dead (Sony Pictures, USA)
  • Requiem for a Dream (Lions Gate, USA)
  • Set it Off (New Line/Warner, USA)
  • Silverado (Sony Pictures, USA)
  • Sleep Dealer (Maya, USA)
  • Sphere (Warner, USA)
  • Valentino: The Last Emperor (Phase 4, USA)

So, with Catwoman finally out on BD, other classics like Honest and Freddy Got Fingered can't be far behind...

Quick question for those who've seen it: is Fringe any good? I must admit I'm slightly curious about it, bearing in mind that I really liked JJ Abrams' Alias but was never able to get into his other show, Lost.

Fringe is a decent show. Suffers typical mid-season dip but in general it's worth a look. If you can find the first 3 episodes to view somewhere, it'll give you a good idea as to whether you'll like it or not.

Fist of Fury. Is that the Bruce Lee movie?

Indeed, Bruce Lee on Blu-ray. The Big Boss/Fists of Fury looks immaculate. Fist of Fury/The Chinese Connection... well, not so much.

Neither of them have their original Mandarin mono tracks, but neither did the R3 DVDs.

My R1 DVD set has the original Mandarin (and Cantonese) mono tracks but the remixes are horrible. I hope the Blu-rays aren't using those same mixes.

Buying old HK movies on home video is an absolute nightmare :(
