BD

Un long dimanche de fiançailles (BD, Warner, Region B, France)

...probably better known to most English speakers as A Very Long Engagement, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Audrey Tautou's second collaboration (the first, of course, being Amelie). Unusually for a Warner title, this uses the AVC codec (not VC-1) and is locked to Region B. It does, however, have full English subtitles for the feature, and the image quality looks pretty stellar.

Looks like Warner Europe has come to their senses, hopefully the US will follow (without going into the tired VC-1 vs. AVC debate).

Warner Japan also uses AVC as with their release of Goemon, although unlike this it doesn't have English subtitles.

A CineVision PSE encoding fleet is certainly no slouch, but VC-1 is quickly becoming deprecated in favor of H.264. Even the new and upcoming 3-D standard for Blu-ray is H.264 only (MVC amendment).
