#9. Volver
(Pedro Almodóvar, 2006)

Penélope Cruz gives a career-best performance in Pedro Almodóvar's whimsical yet touching exploration of the relationships between a family of women, a melodrama with a supernatural twist. One of two primarily "feel-good" films in my Top 10, there's not a great deal more I can think of to say about it. It simply sticks in my mind as one of the most pleasurable two hours I spent in front of the screen in the last ten years.

That's sounds a good set of guesses. I'll second that. Out of those choices, if they are indeed the correct final top ten, I'd agree with MULHOLLAND DRIVE, AMELIE, WALL-E, HANNIBAL, ATONEMENT and CHILDREN OF MEN. All of these films would have to be considered for my Top Ten although I doubt they would all fit in. As for VOLVER and CHANGELING (much like Belleville Rendezvous they are still in my 'to watch pile'. Glad to see I've got some gems to discover.

Looking forward to seeing the rest Michael. You should do a similar thing with Video Games?!

Delighted to see this... loved Volver, but I still think Pedro Almodovar's best film this decade was the hypnotic Talk to Her from 2002.
