On Friday 26th and Saturday 27th of February, the annual Glasgow FrightFest is being held at the Glasgow Film Theatre. As per the official web site, the full list of titles being screened is as follows:

Friday:

Saturday:

I'll certainly be going to Amer and A Lizard in a Woman's Skin (which is being touted as a 110-minute "re-mastered, restored and never-before-seen fully uncut version" - which, if correct, would make it six minutes longer than the current longest available version), and perhaps some of the others as well, time and inclination permitting. Anyone else going to be there?

I am very jealous, argh. Ha ha. Hope it ends up being a great time. If you can, take notes on what's "new" in A Lizard... and post the list here. Hopefully it means there will be a definitive (preferably Blu-ray) version released not long from now.

This listing for Lizard on the Glasgow Film Festival site says "Thanks to Optimum Releasing", which suggests that an uncut DVD (or even BD) release is a very real possibility. If I remember correctly, Studio Canal, who are Optimum's parent company, own the film's negative (I remember reading this when the first Media Blasters release came out), which bodes very well indeed.

I'll do my best to report back on what's new in this print. I really ought to watch the DVD again beforehand to refresh my memory...

Excellent news for both of the above titles, particularly Lizard. I was never a huge fan of City of the Living Dead, though I still think I'll check it out in HD.

I'm disappointed that there's no BD release of Lizard in the offing, although an uncut DVD presentation mastered from the original negative is nothing to sniff at either.
