THE MAGIC TOYSHOP, nice. What made you want to read that? And what did you think of it?

It was the first novel I read at part of my English Literature class in my first year at university back in 2001. I had very fond memories of it and picked it up in one of those "buy two, get one free" offers at Borders shortly before they went into receivership. I still enjoyed it, but I must confess it took me a lot longer to read the second time round, despite it being fairly short.

Yeah, it was definitely a good read. A nice work of magical realism. I think there was a made for TV movie of it. Never saw it, and I'm not sure if I want to. Did you ever see it?

I didn't see it, no, but I'm slightly curious: I know Angela Carter wrote the script herself.
