I picked up the double Blu from Amazon France and both films look pretty good to me. There again, I don't have Michael's bionic eyes, so I dare say he may have a different opinion.

No, it looks fine to me too. As far as I can tell, it's the same (extremely low bit rate) VC-1 encode as the HD DVD release (which was somewhere in the region of 8-9 GB, if I recall correctly), but aside from some minor artefacting and what looks like light filtering, it's very good.
