Not a comment about Weeds but i thought you might be interested in this thread over at AVS since you reviewed Inferno a while back.

Looks like a potentially better release from Blue Underground, i imagine when in motion the grain all looks natural and this does tend to show that Arrow DNR their releases since i have read that Blue Underground and Arrow actually work together with getting these releases out but do separate encodes.

Oh and the skintones look better on the Blue Underground, a blue background as seen on the first picture in the link above should have cool face tones and not the type found on the Arrow releases.

Yeah, I spotted the Mondo Digital review and captures this morning and was going to post about them. Capture #3 makes it clear that both are derived from the same master (the framing is identical), but the BU release, like it's Wild Side (French) counterpart, doesn't suffer from Arrow's overzealous grain reduction, and on top of that BU appear to have completely redone the colour timing - by the looks of it bringing it much closer to the look of the old AB/BU DVD release (particularly noticeable with regard to the cold blue of capture #1).

As for Arrow DNRing their releases, I'm not convinced it's something they do for every title (DEEP RED is certainly noisy as heck, and the captures I've seen of THE BEYOND suggest the same to be true of it), but it's common knowledge that Arrow did pay to have additional work done on INFERNO - the irony being that, by the looks of it, they paid good money to have the image quality degraded.

I remember you reviewing an earlier season of Weeds, where they'd crammed all the episodes onto one disc. Same story here?

As for Arrow films talk, was reading a review of The Beyond (of a review disc with incorrect opening ie b&w), and the reviewer noted that the video only took up only 7.7GB of the 25GB....
Apparently a corrected 50GB disc is being worked on, hopefully it will be of a higher quality.
7.7GB, may as well just stick to DVDs at that rate.
