Yeah, I saw the trailer for this at the start of some other Optimum disc and thought "Must see!" Hope it lives up to expectations.

Enjoyable film. Looks good on bd. But I still like Storm Warning better. :)

I kept hearing murmurings about this one approx. a year ago. When I actually saw the trailer I thought it looked terrible and had no desire whatsoever to see it. On top of that, many of my horror-loving friends who saw the film disliked it. Looking forward to hearing your opinion.

Unrelated...

I got around to watching The Bloodstained Shadow and The House With Laughing Windows.

My verdict:

BSS **
HWLW ***

I found BSS plodding and not all that interesting.
HWLW kept my attention and was unique, but not all that giallo-y, imo. I liked it.

I can understand people not liking THE LOVED ONES, it's from the manic, black-comedy school of horror so chances are it'll either work for you or it won't! I liked it enough to pay out for the Australian Blu-ray, which has a few additional extras.

(Neil, I liked STORM WARNING too, but that's a real "guilty pleasure"! Took it too seriously on first viewing, but when I realised how silly it gets I really enjoyed it second time round.)

Whilst not being particularly keen on this genre I gave this film a rental several months ago, as someone had told me it was well above your average psycho flick and I ended up liking more than I expected, maybe it was down to its emotional depth which is quite unusual on films of this genre.
Also, PQ was excellent IMO.
The director's quip "Torture-Prom" sums it up quite nicely.

I saw this film and The Horseman on television recently, The Horseman was the horror channel, The Loved Ones might also have been the horror channel but may have been Film Four, can't remember ( too many channels available and i'm always flicking through them )

I liked The Loved Ones which obviously took its inspiration from a number of other movies, i disliked The Horseman, too brutal and a bit amateur hour at times, i thought the camerawork on The Horseman poor.

It seemed mostly like torture porn with a side story which didn't really go anywhere. I think I've lost my appetite for movies which just about bleeding and screaming.

You got a nice stack of films for your birthday, can't see you sitting down with the family to watch this one though :)

By the by I got in LOTR and watched Fellowship. Can definitely see what the fuss was about, some scenes looked fine and others it just became a little distracting.
Well that was until I adjusted the "Tint" setting on my Samsung, took the edge off the green and I didn't notice it again.
Not an ideal situation though having to tweak the settings before sitting down to watch and on some TV's won't be as easy to fix.
