3/10 for Wake Wood is just about right. This film just rubbed me up the wrong way, partly because it was so derivative of other, better films, but mainly because it's been marketed as a Hammer production- Absolute tosh. The name Hammer was bought by a Dutch consortium a few years back, and that's all it is- a name. They may as well have bought the rights to The Beatles, then dragged four random blokes off the street and announced they were intending to make classic Beatles albums. Plus so many of the reviews seem to want to drop in the term 'Folk Horror', as if it was an established sub-genre, rather than a couple of films. I spent my Halloween watching Optimums beautifully restored Bluray of Quatermass and the Pit - a REAL Hammer film!
