Expressive Pooh

Yesterday I said I thought the backgrounds were the most striking artwork in Disney's 2011 WINNIE THE POOH revival. On further reflection, though, I think Eric Goldberg's animation of Rabbit, which is almost Clampett-like in its exaggeration, is the most visually impressive aspect of the film. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this from Disney before:

That looks excellent. I've been wanting to see this film for a while, and those expressive drawings makes me more anxious to do so. Just gotta recuperate my funds to get the Blu-ray...

Unrelated, Horror Movie Empire will be having a Blue Underground sale starting midnight tonight, Sunday (since it's based in Chicago, I'd imagine that's Central Time). DVDs $7, BDs $10. Free worldwide shipping. Might wanna look into it if there are any titles you're looking to buy.

That Horror Movie Empire text is a link, by the way. Doesn't appear to be showing up as a different color.

THANK YOU CHRISTOPHER D. JACOBSON!

What a great sale!
FREE SHIPPING!

If I didn't literally own almost every BD on that page already, I would go nuts.
I did pick up BDs for Torso and The Cat O' Nine Tails (I know the transfer's not great, Michael, but I've been holding off on buying it, it's the best available and it was $10!)

Also, that is some great animation above. :)

It looks nice, but of little consequence. Might get it when it's below $15.

My favourite animated Winnie the Pooh is the Soviet version:

Why is it only animation aimed at kids that has this level of quality?

Daniel: Pre-orders (sans Strip Nude for Your Killer) and backordered items have been added as well.

If you or anyone does order from the site, be aware that some people haven't been too pleased with the service. It's all one guy doing everything (all the while raising kids and hitting up conventions), and he's recently been quite overwhelmed with the attention his sales have gotten, so he's kinda fallen behind on a number of orders. I keep urging people to contact the guy to have their orders pushed to the front, but they're obstinate and would rather complain. :p He's also way more easily reachable on Twitter than through email, to be honest. @horrorempire

But I've placed several orders from him, and yeah, shipments are sometimes reeeaaally slow, and he's even forgotten he didn't send some of my items :p but I just remind him and he gets them out. I've gotten a lot of cool perks, too, for being a regular customer.

Oh gods, Redline looks beautiful. Got my Blu-ray preorder in, looking forward to that sum'bitch hitting my doorstep. Bummed I didn't know it was playing in Minneapolis till after it was shown.

Thanks Christopher.

I pre-ordered Strip Nude.

I just sent an email (don't have twitter) inquiring about my first order, which was placed last Monday, which I haven't been notified of shipping yet.

Daniel: The HME owner was unexpectedly swamped with this Blue Underground sale—he got over 1,000 orders in only a few days! He said he's gotten more business from this sale alone than in the past three years combined. It's kinda my fault 'cos I posted about it on the Blu-ray.com board. :p

So processing has been slow but orders are getting taken care of as fast as he's physically capable of. I'll shoot him your name and see if he can reply to your email and get your order out soon.

I can definitely vouch for the business, though. Again, shipments are sometimes slow (and sometimes incredibly speedy), but the prices are so good at times that I'm willing to wait. I got the Synapse Frankenhooker BD from him for $15 and it arrived on my door one month before release. :)

Hopefully with all the business he's getting he'll be able to hire staffers, even just part-time, and not have these delays in the future.

And unless he somehow forgets, he said he'll take care of everything tonight:
