Oh, yes please. Ridley Scott + Noomi Rapace + a return to the world (and, by the looks of it, the atmosphere) of ALIEN = my most anticipated film of 2012 to be sure.

Agreed.
Haven't watched the trailer yet.
Waiting to watch on the big screen before TGWTDT tomorrow.

Looks very glossy, though, does it not? Even the 'derelict' looks a bit modernised.

Hmmm... As exciting as this is (the best possible way of putting together a new Alien film), I have so little faith in Scott that I think we might be headed for a fall, and just end up with a very polished bit of fan fiction.

Most anticipated yes, perhaps, but there is still the case of The Hobbit.

Alien was excellent as a one-off and the first sequel was enjoyable as a different sort of film but frankly this is not some fully realized SF world with say, the depth of Herbert's Dune saga. It's silly to try to stretch out the franchise like this. But then this is the age of prequels and reboots, ain't it?

Alongside THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, this is certainly the film I'm most pumped to see having viewed that appetite wetting trailer. Like Peter Jackson's THE HOBBIT trailer I'm staggered by how familiar it feels in relation to the previous films. For example, seeing the derelict once again send a tingle of excitement down my spine. Plus having looked at the cast list for this film it is damn impressive featuring both Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender et al. Clearly, I'm not expecting another ALIEN but I do adore much of Ridley Scott's work despite the odd bum note. Bring it on!
