Movie Matters #14 - supplement

Somewhat later than anticipated, we've put together a supplemental bonus to the most recent Movie Matters episode containing the three "Top 10 of 2011" MP3 lists we didn't have time to showcase in the episode itself. We hope you enjoy listening to these additional takes on the year that was 2011 and can forgive the delay in getting them out there.

I hate going off topic, but, on their facebook page, VCI said they'll be releasing THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE on Blu-ray. No word on if they are using the awful Storaroed master that Arrow used.

Oh, interesting. I believe the transfer BU used is their own and they refused to license it to Arrow (either that, or Arrow wasn't willing/able to pay the asking price), so I'd be inclined to suspect VCI won't be getting their hands on it either. I'd happily be proved wrong, though - having the only semi-decent HD presentation of the film OOP is a less than ideal state of affairs.

I emailed VCI and asked what aspect ratio the BIRD Blu-ray will be and they responded with:

"Hello,
Thank you for your email. The DVD will be in the 2.35:1.

Thank you,
Penny Brokaw
VCI Customer Service Rep"

Since I explicitly mentioned Blu-ray three times in my email, I am going to assume the Customer Service Rep mistakenly wrote DVD and meant that the Blu will be 2.35:1.

Extra bit of 2.35 confirmation via VCI's facebook page:

"The 'Bird' will definitely fly in 2.35:1. Still working out bonus details."

And, when asked about the missing "Right" from the line "Right, bring in the perverts!," they said:

Then we will make sure "right" is not cut out.
