Sayonara BD & DVD section

4:55 PM / Blu-ray / DVD / Web / Comments7 Comments

Web

As part of my ongoing efforts to streamline this site and give me a few less lists to keep up to date (see my removal of the film diary back in May), I've decided to junk the "in-house" BD & DVD section and simply have that page redirect to my DVD Profiler page from now on. Their site isn't as purrty as mine, but it's much less of a hassle for me to update, and it contains more information on each disc, including bonus features, audio and video formats, and even (if you're in the mood for a giggle) parental advisory information.

Please note that the DVD Profiler page doesn't show discs that I've since sold or given away, so a number will have disappeared.

Ah that's a shame. I probably perused that part of the site the most over the years; seeing what versions you'd got of which films etc. But change as they say is inevitable as is the diminishing amount of free time we're destined to enjoy. It will be fondly remembered.

Well, pretty much all the same info is included in the DVD Profiler link - just a little bit less elegantly (if I say so myself) laid out. But yeah, it's totally true - as I find myself with increasingly less time to while away, I'm having to find new ways to automate things. Sites like Letterboxd (for my film diary) and DVD Profiler (for my disc collection) are absolute godsends.

Are you getting the new german 'Four Flies on Grey Velvet' BD release to review? It's finally out now.

Should be. I ordered it from D&T a few months back.

A little OT, but I couldn't find the Argento BD Check post from way back:

Looking through D&T's site for the Koch Four Flies BD turned up XT Video Blu-rays for both Phenomena (http://shop.dtm.at/product_info.php?products_id=48083) and Deep Red (http://shop.dtm.at/product_info.php?products_id=47750). The Deep Red unfortunately lists no English audio and only German subs, but the Phenomena listing mentions the English soundtrack--anybody know if the Phenomena disc is a new transfer? I'm very tempted to pick it up on the off-chance that it's better than the Arrow...

The Argento BD list is here. :)

I'll update it soon - would quite like to get more info about those DEEP RED and PHENOMENA releases first. And I should have my FOUR FLIES BD before too long - I got a dispatch notification yesterday.

There's also another XT Video Phenomena Blu listed, a mediabook (http://shop.dtm.at/product_info.php?products_id=48354).

It's listed as not being available until 8.6.12; the other XT Blu is listed as being released on 6.8.12--are they really being released two months apart by the same company? Or did somebody just transpose the numbers? Or?
