French Connection II is underrated!
Curious how that copy of TRL compares to the CC BD.

I imagine that Fox version of The Thin Red Line is the same as the German Fox edition, comparison below.

I love Cloverfield, the sequel seems to be taking forever to make since Abrams is busy with the Star Trek sequel, some serious bass in this movie.

I've been using Amazon's marketplace on and off recently. That's where I got FRENCH CONNECTION II and MONEYBALL. Of the rest, CLOVERFIELD came from a store in Glasgow where you can trade in unwanted DVDs and BDs, and the other three came from an HMV sale.

I watched CLOVERFIELD last night after trying to see it on two previous occasions and getting a scratched disc from LoveFilm each time. Wasn't all that impressed by it, to be honest.

I recall rather enjoying CLOVERFIELD once the carnage ensues and the irritating cast begin to get the shit thrown at them. Certainly felt like something approaching an 'event' movie by the time it hit theatres as JJ Abrams and co had cooked up a pretty groundbreaking Internet viral campaign which fleshed out the incident referred to as case 'Cloverfield'. But I would agree the film does ultimately feel rather one note.

Cheers for the heads up regarding possible avenues of getting my hands on cheaper BDs. I'm all for saving a few pennies at present as you know :)

To appreciate Cloverfield you need to re-visit all the old Japanese Godzilla and Mothra films and also watch some classic Fifties Hollywood B films like 20 Million Miles To Earth, even the end score, which is fabulous, is in the same vein as Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla.

Anyway i'll be interested to hear your take on the image quality of Black Hawk Down and The Thin Red Line.

FC2 is worth seeing/owning just for Hackman's performance...

Cloverfield. I like it but think that [Rec] is king of the 'real footage' medium.

Fuck me, that Spanish film was intense. The sequel wasn't too shabby either.
